In Dustin Pease first year as a collegiate coach he has guided a player from the Division I level to the professional ranks.  2014 Graduate Vincent Molesky, Right Handed Pitcher has signed a professional contract with the Wichita Wingnuts of the American Association where he will be attending spring training for the team in late April.  Vince had a solid senior year posting a winning record of 5-4.  He pitched to the tune of a 3.92 ERA through 57.1 innings of work.  The walk totals remained low through his inning total at 15 BB’s against 42 Strikeouts.

Vince Made some important adjustments during the time that we started working together prior to his 2014 season.  We sat down and discussed in great depth the importance of commanding pitches, repeating motion, mental toughness, and why location of pitches is so necessary to consistent success.  His understanding of that is what led him to have one of the most consistent seasons on the pitching end, that Mount Saint Mary’s has seen in a while.

When Vince was asked about his time with Coach Pease and his outlook on his first professional experience he had this to say:

“Heading into my senior season at Mount Saint Mary’s with Dustin Pease being our pitching coach, I was truly grateful knowing I was finally going to have a true pitching coach who was going to help me grow as a pitcher immensely.  Not only did Dustin help me with a few mechanical flaws, but he sat me down and taught me the mental aspects of pitching, which ultimately lead me to become so successful my senior year.  I knew I was going to have the opportunity to play professionally, but having Dustin believing in me and battling in my corner he made my dream a reality.  Heading into spring training this upcoming year with the Wichita Wingnuts, my outlook is that this is an opportunity for me to prove myself and how I will prepare myself will determine whether or not I will be successful.  Dustin recently told me to take advantage of each and everyday as an opportunity to get better and that’s exactly what I am going to do.  With the philosophy and lessons Dustin has instilled in me, I believe that I will be nothing but successful in professional ball!”

I am very excited for Vince to take the next step in his career and for him to continue his hard work.  I am sure he will be prepared for his time in spring training and hopefully everything falls into place by the time the season starts.  The manager of the Wingnuts, Kevin Hooper is truly a class act.  One of my favorite managers I had the privilege to play for and gave me every opportunity he could to be successful and move me along to my then next level which was San Diego.  I will forever be grateful to their organization, and to each one leading me to Wichita.  I know Vince will be in good hands.

The Wingnuts have posted a story to their website as well where you can see more on Vince and their organization.
