Evan Englebrook, a Mechanicsburg, PA native, began his baseball journey at Shippensburg University, where he earned First Team All-American honors in his senior year. This was soon followed by his selection in the 8th round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft by the Houston Astros. From there Englebrook’s professional career went on to span 11 years. During his first seven years with the Astros organization, he spent parts of four seasons in Double-A, developing into a pitcher who consistently threw in the upper 90s. During that time, he also played in the Arizona Fall league and winter ball in Venezuela. He was then added to the Houston Astros 40-man roster in 2010. Following that year Englebrook went on to play 3 seasons of independent ball. Two of those with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League; winning the championship with them in 2014. He also played one season in the Toronto Blue Jays organization and another overseas in Japan.

Following his playing career, Englebrook transitioned into coaching, leveraging his extensive experience and knowledge of the game. From 2018 to 2019, he served as a floor trainer at Full Reps Training Center in Camp Hill, PA, where he guided elite athletes through data-driven training programs. His role involved addressing mechanical inefficiencies, assisting with warm-ups and recovery, and interpreting performance data using advanced technologies like Rapsodo and Edgertronic. He also provided individualized pitching and hitting lessons, emphasizing both the mechanics and mental aspects of baseball.

In 2021 Englebrook moved to Fredrick to live with his girlfriend. That led him to Hood College in Frederick, MD, where he served as the pitching coach from 2022 to 2024. His dedication to improving pitchers’ mechanics and his ability to help guide his players through the college process so there would be less internal conflict and more peace of mind significantly contributed to the team’s growth over the past two years. Hood was 12-27 the year before Englebrook arrived and each season since they have steadily improved. Finishing this past season 3rd in the Mac conference with an overall record of 23-17. Englebrook helped develop two all-conference pitchers this past season and a conference pitcher of the year in Joe Alexander.
