PRO-LED AT BATS

Live competition. Real-time coaching. A better bridge between practice and the game.

For the past four months, Ivor and I have been quietly running this program with a hand-selected group of players.

The idea was pretty simple.

There is a massive difference between taking swings in a cage, throwing a bullpen, working through drills — and actually having to execute against another player.

But there is also a problem with using games as the place to figure everything out.

The game isn’t always the best environment to experiment. You’re trying to perform. You’re trying to get somebody out. You’re trying to get a hit. There are consequences attached to every pitch and every at bat.

We wanted to create something in between.

That’s where Pro-Led At Bats came from.

A Different Kind of Practice

PLABs puts pitchers, hitters and catchers into a controlled live environment with our coaches right there with them.

Players compete.

The pitcher is trying to get the hitter out.

The hitter is trying to win the at bat.

The catcher is receiving, blocking, calling pitches and managing the environment.

But unlike a game, we can stop. Talk. Make an adjustment. Change an approach. Try something new. Then immediately put the player back into competition and see what happens.

That’s where we’ve seen some pretty incredible development.

Over the last four months, we’ve watched hitters completely change the way they approach at bats. We’ve watched pitchers develop better plans, better conviction and better understanding of how their stuff actually plays against hitters.

And the biggest thing we’ve seen is that those changes are translating into games.

That’s the entire point.

HOW A SESSION WORKS

Each PLAB session is one hour and intentionally kept small.

  • 2 Pitchers — roughly 45 pitches each, or approximately 3 innings of work
  • 3 Hitters — approximately 10–12 live at bats each
  • 1 Catcher
  • PBP coaches working with the group throughout the session

This isn’t just players showing up and facing live pitching.

We are coaching throughout the hour.

We can work through pitch selection, sequencing, approach, timing, mechanics, mental cues, count strategy, adjustments and whatever else is showing up during competition.

Then we provide feedback at the conclusion of the session.

TRACKMAN + VIDEO ON EVERY REP

We also utilize Trackman throughout Pro-Led At Bats.

That gives us another layer of information for both pitchers and hitters beyond simply watching the result of the play.

Pitch data. Batted-ball data. Velocity. Movement. Contact quality. Location. And the other metrics Trackman gives us depending on the rep.

Every rep is also connected to video through Trackman, allowing us to go back and pair what happened visually with what the data is telling us.

For us, the technology isn’t the program.

It’s another tool that helps us coach the player.

WHY WE BUILT IT

One of the hardest parts of player development is taking something that works in practice and actually getting it to show up when the game speeds up.

That’s the gap we’re trying to close.

Training → Controlled Competition → Game Performance

A player may be working on a new pitch.

A hitter may be changing an approach.

Maybe we’re making a mechanical adjustment.

Maybe we’re working on being more aggressive in certain counts.

Maybe we’re asking a pitcher to attack an area of the strike zone they’ve been uncomfortable using.

PLABs gives us somewhere to test those things against a real opponent without asking the player to experiment for the first time when the game is on the line.

The environment feels familiar.

The competition is real.

But there is still room to develop.

That combination has been extremely powerful.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Pro-Led At Bats is designed for middle school and high school baseball players who are ready to work in a live competitive environment.

Our older players currently have several sessions available throughout the week. The main sessions are generally ages 15-18, and based on skill level we adjust who is permitted in each session

For middle school players, availability is more limited. We currently offer only one designated session each week for ages 12-14, with the possibility of opening additional sessions as interest and demand grow for that middle school age level.

Players should already have enough experience to safely and effectively compete against live pitching.

This program is for players looking to take their quality practice reps into the game.

This program is for players simply looking to stay sharp between outings, or stay active with more competitive environment out of season.

This program is for players looking to the ability to work on new adjustments in a controlled pressure environment.

REGISTRATION

direct contact with Dustin Pease. We intentionally structure these matchups around relatable skill sets of the group. If you reach out with interest, Dustin will most likely follow up with more questions about your players ability and where they are in their baseball journey.

Introduce yourself, your son, and what position you are interested in joining as for a session. These sessions are a la carte and do not require any month long or long term commitment.

Catchers do not purchase a spot. Catchers please also text Dustin Pease direct to let us know you would like to be added to our list to participate in this program and earn $15/ hour. Ideally we are looking for catchers that can handle at least mid 80’s fastballs. We have all sorts of pitcher velocities in this program.

WE’RE OPENING IT UP

Until now, this program has mostly lived inside our walls.

Ivor and I were personally choosing players we believed would benefit from the environment and using the past four months to figure out exactly how we wanted the program to operate.

It has been a wild success.

Not because every at bat looks good.

Not because every pitcher dominates.

Actually, sometimes it’s the opposite.

The value is being able to see what happens when a player is forced to compete — and then having the opportunity to help them understand it, make an adjustment and immediately try again.

We’ve seen enough at this point that we’re ready to open Pro-Led At Bats to the larger baseball community.

More players deserve access to this type of practice.

And we believe this environment can become an important part of helping players take all of the work they’re already doing and actually carry it into the game.
